History of Aeromexico
From humble beginnings to becoming Mexico's flag carrier, our journey spans decades of aviation excellence.

Aeronaves de México's first aircraft
The Birth of Mexican Aviation
Founded as Aeronaves de México in 1934 by Antonio Díaz Lombardo, the airline began operations in 1935 with a single Stinson SR Reliant aircraft. Initial routes connected Mexico City with Acapulco and other domestic destinations.

Post-war expansion with DC-4 aircraft
Post-War Renaissance
After suspending operations during WWII, Aeromexico resumed services in 1946 with a fleet of Douglas DC-3 and DC-4 aircraft. This era marked the beginning of international expansion with routes to Los Angeles, New York, and Havana.

Aeromexico DC-6 in the 1950s
The Golden Age of Aviation
The 1950s saw Aeromexico merge with Mexicana de Aviación to form Aerovías de México, becoming Latin America's largest airline. The introduction of pressurized DC-6 aircraft allowed for more comfortable transcontinental flights.
